ĻӰԺ seniors Nina Fox and Merckx Dascomb

ĻӰԺ theater majors Merckx Dascomb and Nina Fox explore the challenges of early adulthood and the desire to reconcile with one’s former self in their original documentary-theater production, “Peace Pipe,” on Monday, Nov. 26, at 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., all in ĻӰԺ’s Porter Hall Black-Box Theater. The senior project, which contains mature content, is free and open to the public.

“I wanted to encapsulate my time at ĻӰԺ in a way that could address the questions I’ve asked myself as I’ve grown older,” says Fox, who wrote the play. “We like to think our problems begin and end within ourselves, but we all struggle together.”

Fox, who came to ĻӰԺ from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, is a jazz vocalist, satirist/editor in the student newspaper, singer in the ĻӰԺ College Choir and actor/writer in the Fringe Festival.

Dascomb, an accomplished pianist, an avid explorer and supporter at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, plans to pursue directing after graduating from ĻӰԺ.

“I hope audience members leave with a sense of comfort in the madness that is being a young adult, and to feel a greater sense of community around them,” says Dascomb, who directs the play.
