Talk Examines Guiding Teen Faith, Career

Dr. Andrea Gurney
Dr. Andrea Gurney

Andrea Gurney, 四虎影院 professor of psychology, explores how pastors, teachers and parents can best support adolescents as they discover God鈥檚 place for them at the fourth annual Conversation on Youth and Vocation Friday, January 10, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in 四虎影院鈥檚 Global Leadership Center. The event, sponsored by 四虎影院鈥檚 Trailhead program, is free and open to the public.

鈥淎dolescence is a pivotal formation period, when young people are learning about their strengths and interests, exploring the world鈥檚 possibilities, and integrating the many complex inputs 鈥 from family, school, media, friends and faith communities 鈥 that tell young people who they might be,鈥 Gurney says.

Gurney鈥檚 most recent book, 鈥淩eimagining Your Love Story: Biblical and Psychological Practices for Healthy Relationships,鈥 examines how we acquire and live into 鈥 or out of 鈥 the narratives that shape our lives. Gurney, who earned a master鈥檚 degree at the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in counseling psychology at Northeastern University, is a practicing therapist for individuals, couples and families.
