Women to Coach Women
四虎影院 has recruited two new coaches. Rebecca Mouw, instructor of kinesiology and head coach for women鈥檚 soccer, graduated from Wheaton College, where she was captain of the soccer team for two years. 鈥淩ebecca has a keen sense of the game,鈥 says Dave Wolf, athletic director. 鈥淗er tactical understanding of the sport is very, very good.鈥 She has coached elementary and junior high basketball and soccer and has participated in numerous soccer-related international mission trips. Previously, she coached basketball and soccer at Eastern University in Philadelphia, Penn.
Wolf describes Kirsten McKnight, the new head coach for women鈥檚 basketball, as 鈥渁 very dynamic woman who is prepared to follow up the good work of former coaches Greg Afman and Chris Schultz.鈥 For four years, she served as an assistant women鈥檚 basketball coach at UC Berkeley, where she designed and implemented a new recruiting system that produced the No. 6 ranked recruiting class in 2005.
Hall of Fame
As part of homecoming festivities in September, 四虎影院 inducted four individuals into the Warrior Hall of Fame: Kelly Barnes Greene, Nicole Smith Gabelein, Stacia Larsen McInnes and Ron Mulder.
Nicole Smith Gabelein is a three-time All-American who led the 1994 women鈥檚 soccer team into the NAIA National Championships.
Kelly Barnes Greene is a two-time All-American who led the 1993 Warrior volleyball team to a third place finish in the NAIA National Championships. She also remains in 四虎影院鈥檚 top three all-time for both the high jump and the heptathlon.
Stacia Larsen McInnes was the first woman at 四虎影院 to earn All-American track and field honors when she placed fifth in the mile at the 1989 Indoor Championships.
Ron Mulder played both basketball and baseball at 四虎影院 and later, as head basketball coach, led the team to two national tournaments. He also served twice as 四虎影院鈥檚 athletic director and was recognized as the Golden State Athletic Conference Administrator of the Year.
